Dora E. Cantu

Over the past 25 years, Dr. Cantu has been helping people see the world differently.  Throughout her years Dr. Cantu has managed to stay ahead of the game with both training and knowledge of the latest technology in this rapidly changing medical field.  Since she grew up in a small town in west Texas, Dr. Cantu has always stressed the importance of educating her patients and treating them as family.

Dr. Cantu is experienced in the extracapsular, phacoemulsification, and femtosecond laser methods of cataract surgery.  Because she is well versed in the methods of cataract surgery and has performed over 10,000 cataract surgeries, she specializes in complex cataracts.  Beyond cataracts, Dr. Cantu found her niche with pterygium surgeries.  Pterygiums are notorious for recurring; however, Dr. Cantu’s percentage of recurrence is less than 1% after having performed more than 6,000 pterygium surgeries. During clinic hours, Dr. Cantu treats and monitors all conditions including but not limited to macular degeneration, diabetes, glaucoma, chalazion (eye lid bump), and dry eye.
